Chapter 45...The Town of EXIT, Colorado...

...There is no doubt a heated debate raging out there in ReaderLand regarding where the Wanderin' Captain Cowboy will take his precious posse after their abbreviated visit to Durango, Colorado.  (Incidentally, the Mayor of Durango is, believe it or not, SWEETIE MARBURY!!!)

...Published without permission herewith is Her Honor, Ms. Sweetie Marbury...no doubt the cutest Mayor in the long and storied history of Durango...and lest my multitudes of militant feminist readers take umbrage at calling Her Honor "cute", I will add that Ms. Sweetie is probably the most effective Mayor as well...There, that should calm the stormy waters of discontent...

...Now back to the subject of the moment...namely, where are we going???  We are going to visit our good friends Carri and Bruce who spend their summer months at their ranch in Salida, Colorado (population 5,236).  Yes, Julio, Salida does mean EXIT in Spanish.  (Clearly the village was named BEFORE Carri took up residence there, 'cause nobody would want to EXIT the place after meeting our Darlin' Carri...

...from left to right...Stan, Carri, Susan (Carri's Friend), and Bruce...

...and we mustn't forget...

...the Devine Miss Sparky, the Wonder Dog...

...Carri and Bruce took us around the ranch in their  5 passenger ATV...

...The Commodorable wants one in White...

...Sparky kept me company in the back of the ATV...

...Hmm, maybe we need to look into ranchin' as our new way of life...We DO look the part, doncha think???

...For lunch we ate at River's Edge Restaurant in downtown Salida...The restaurant sits on the western bank of the ARKANSAS RIVER.  Yes, Monica, we are in Colorado...The Colorado River, as you recall was in Utah and Arizona.  I KNOW you don't understand...Darlin', neither do I.

...Alongside the Arkansas River...

...The Arkansas River...Lots of rafting here...

...Too soon we had to say "Adios, Carri, Bruce, Sparky and Salida"...

...As we departed, Leslie met a wooden bear...

...Carri had told us there was a bear hanging around their home, but I don't think it is this one...HE hangs around the Legal Marijuana Shop.  Ah, marijuana, the original Rocky Mountain High...

...Neither of us had ever seen a sign promoting the sale before...

...On the way out of this colorful, charming village we also saw...

...a CHROME HORSE...

...And, we saw...

...A rusting IRON HORSE...

...On the road to Denver...

...The literal high point of the trip from Salida to Denver...Kenosha Pass...10,000 feet elevation...From here to Denver, it was downhill all the curvy way...The Aspen Trees were turning to their golden hue, so all those people on both sides of the road came here to see the sight...

...What, Peggy, Why are we traveling to Denver???  We are going there to pick up our dear friend Nina at the Denver Airport...Yes, the very same pretty blonde Danish lady you first met in Naples in Chapter 12...

...Nina with Rocky and Murphy...

...Well, that's the news, up to date as we arrive in Denver and proceed to retrieve our Nina from the cold clutches of United Airlines...

...This is our path so far...
